An Open Letter To Eric, Marilyn, and Brian Behrman January 7, 2007 As the mother of John Myers I am writing this open letter to you to ask for your understanding and, if possible, your help. My son, John Myers II, had no role whatsoever in the events of May 31, 2000 that took the life of your dear daughter and sister. This is a position he has maintained from the start and maintains today. John has no information that would be helpful in identifying the person or persons involved. Quite simply, John was a young man with a past history of petty crime who had the bad luck to live near the location where your daughter's bike was found that morning. John's supporters have posted a web site at www.justiceforjohnsite.com to gather and publish information supporting his bid for a new trial. Citizens concerned with the injustice apparent in the trial proceedings are submitting new leads, information, and suggestions to the site daily. We pledge to maintain an attitude of respect and courtesy at all times on this web site. The web site is currently posting a detailed report written by FBI Agent, Gary Dunn. This 86 page report provides a summary of investigation findings. Morgan County Circuit Court Judge Christopher Burnham did not allow Agent Dunn's report to be admitted into evidence at John's trial. Agent Dunn's report clearly exonerates John Myers of any involvement in the crime. We believe posting this report and other trial documents will inform the public of the grossly unfair treatment John has received at the hands of the Morgan County Court system. I hope you will review a copy of the trial transcript when it becomes available. Portions of this transcript will be posted on the web site as soon as possible. There is absolutely nothing of substance in the trial record that demonstrates John's guilt. Judge Burnham denied admission to reports and documents that would have cleared John. We intend to use all legal means available to require Judge Burnham to explain in detail why he denied admission to any and all information helpful to John. John's brothers, daughters, and I have asked him on many occasions if he has any involvement in or knowledge of this terrible crime. He steadfastly maintains his innocence and states that he has no information of any kind that would be helpful. We respectfully request that you share with us any new information supporting John's cause that might find its way to you. Our goal remains: Justice for all. Our family prays for Jill and for you every day. Sincerely, Jodie L. Myers |
