The Indiana Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments in the appeal of John’s conviction on March 20, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in Indianapolis. A panel of three judges will hear 30-minute oral presentations by defense attorney, Patrick V. Baker, and by Joby Jerrells, a Bloomington attorney representing the State of Indiana. The panel of judges will ask questions after oral presentations are complete. The scheduled panel members are Judges Bradford, Darden, and Barnes.
Indiana Court of Appeals Chief Judge John G. Baker is formerly of Bloomington. Judge Cale Bradford is new to the Court of Appeals bench, having been sworn in on August 23, 2007.
Attorney Joby Jerrells has recently announced his candidacy for judge of Monroe Circuit Court, District 7. Monroe Circuit Judge David Welch currently occupies this position. Judge Welch has withdrawn his candidacy for another term on that bench. Jerrells is a former deputy prosecuting attorney in Monroe County and has argued cases before the Indiana Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and Tax Court.
